The global WorldDAB forum shows support of digital radio rollout in Ukraine
Pursuant to the announcement by the National Council of launching the tender for the digital radio broadcasting in Ukraine, Mr Patrick Hannon, President of the WorldDAB Forum, sent a letter to the Regulatory Authority of Ukraine in support of the initiative.
“WorldDAB is delighted that Ukraine is launching a DAB+ trial in Kyiv. DAB+ is firmly established as the core future platform for radio in Europe and increasingly around the world. It is excellent news that Ukraine will be the latest country to join this movement”, the letter read.
Mr Hannon described the tender announced on 21 December 2017 as “an important first step on the road to securing radio’s future in Ukraine”. In his opinion, the DAB+ will bring significant benefits for broadcasters and listeners.
He further pointed out that “the templates for a successful launch of digital radio are proven and well established, with broadcasters around the world seeing significant audience growth as a result of moving to digital”.
WorldDAB was pleased to offer their support to the professionals in Ukraine, working on the rollout of the DAB.
WorldDAB consists of 100 members from 28 countries. WorldDAB is the global forum for digital radio, facilitating the adoption and implementation of digital broadcast radio based on DAB, DAB+. Its membership includes public and commercial broadcasters, network providers, receiver, chip and car manufacturers.
