The Regulator’s Decision on the Steering Committee of the Public Broadcaster was amended
On 19 January the National Council amended its Decision with which on 17 December 2015 the composition of the Steering Committee of the PJSC “National Public Broadcasting Company of Ukraine” was approved. The amendments dealt with entering into the powers by the Members of the Steering Committee.
Thus, the Decision of the National Council was amended with paragraph two according to which the date of entering into the powers by the Members of the Steering Committee of the National Public Broadcasting Company of Ukraine (hereinafter – NPBCU) is defined to start on the date of the state registration of the PJSC “National Public Broadcasting Company of Ukraine”.
The adoption of this Decision coincided in the date with the registration of the PJSC “National Public Broadcasting Company of Ukraine”. On 19 January the Public Broadcaster was registered as a legal entity and the status of a legal entity of the National Television Company of Ukraine was ceased. Thus, from today we can expect more active steps in completing the reform of the Public Broadcaster.
The Steering Committee, which according to the law shall supervise the activities of the Public Broadcaster, will start to fully perform its duties. These duties include but are not limited to competitive electing of the NPBCU Board Chair with the office of four years, defining the main areas of the Company activities, approval of the editorial statute and control over its execution, setting conditions and amounts of salaries of the NPBCU employees.
