The Government decided that up to May 1, 2019 analog broadcasting will be maintained in the separate territories
On August 31, at the Government web-portal and in the newspaper “The Governmental Courier”, the Cabinet of Ministers’ Resolution №667 was published, which amended the Plan for the Use of the Radio Frequency Resource of Ukraine.
The document takes into account the proposals submitted by the National Council on delaying the shutdown of analog broadcasting in the territories bordering with the Russian Federation, as well as for the programs of “UA:PBC” and local broadcasting companies that do not have digital broadcasting licenses. Moreover, the date up to which the use of analog technology for these broadcasters will continue will be specified – May 1, 2019.
Currently, 111 local TV companies do not have digital broadcasting licenses. At the same time, the National Council announced two competitions for digital broadcasting – broadcasts in the multichannel digital network MX-5 and in the regional multiplex in the Odesa Region. In total these cover 93 channels.
The Regulator also urged local broadcasters to submit allegations of miscalculation of frequencies for digital broadcasting, which could be arranged locally.
